Study Suggests Another Look at Testosterone-Prostate Cancer Link The long-standing prohibition against testosterone therapy in men with untreated or low-risk prostate cancer merits reevaluation, according to a new study published in The Journal of Urology.
"For many decades it had been believed that a history of prostate cancer, even if treated and cured, was an absolute contraindication to testosterone therapy, due to the belief that testosterone activated prostate cancer growth, and could potentially cause dormant cancer cells to grow rapidly," says Abraham Morgentaler, MD of Men's Health Boston. "Generations of medical students and residents were taught that providing testosterone to a man with prostate cancer was like pouring gasoline on a fire."
This study, involving 13 symptomatic testosterone deficient men who also had untreated prostate cancer, suggests this traditional view is incorrect, and that testosterone treatment in men does not cause rapid growth of prostate cancer. It is the first to directly and rigorously assess changes in the prostate among men with prostate cancer who received testosterone therapy.
The men received testosterone therapy while undergoing active surveillance for prostate cancer for a median of 2.5 years. Median age was 58.8 years. The initial biopsy Gleason score was 6/10 for 12 of the men, 7/10 for the other (Gleason score grades the aggressiveness of prostate cancer by its microscopic appearance on a scale of 2-10. Gleason 6 is generally considered low to moderately aggressive, and Gleason 7 moderately aggressive)...
Studies Suggest Higher Risk Of Blood Clots With Some Birth Control Pills A couple of papers just published by the British Medical Journal add to the evidence that the latest type of birth control pills may confer a higher risk of blood clots than older kinds of oral contraceptives.
The newer pills — including Yaz and Yasmin — contain a synthetic hormone called drospirenone. Many older contraceptives rely on levonorgestrel, another type of the progestin hormone.
As NPR's Richard Knox reported last year, Yaz quickly became the best-selling birth control pill in the U.S. after its introduction in 2006. More than
Here's a recap of the latest data.
In an analysis of a sample of U.S. insurance claims, the researchers found that women taking contraceptives with drospirenone had more than twice the risk of developing blood clots than those taking contraceptives that used levonorgestrel. The rates of blood clots (as calculated using the number per years of 100,000 women taking the medicines) was 30.8 for drospirenone and 12.5 for levonorgestrel...
Radiation Treatment for Breast Cancer Causes Cancer in the Other Breast Young women who receive radiation treatment after breast cancer surgery are significantly more likely to later develop cancer in the other breast than women who did not undergo such radiation.
The findings come from a study, published online in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, on more than 7,000 women who were treated for breast cancer in Netherlands between the years of 1970 and 1986. All study participants were diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 71.
Among study participants in general, the risk of developing cancer in the opposite breast (contralateral breast cancer) after treatment in the first breast was three to four times higher than the rate for new cases of breast cancer. This risk only went up with a number of other risk factors, including family predisposition or treatment with radiation or chemotherapy.
Researchers from the Erasmus Medical Center Daniel den Hoed Cancer Center in Rotterdam examined the cancer risk in women based on whether they were treated with radiation after a lumpectomy (partial breast removal) or mastectomy (complete breast removal). They found that women under the age of 45 who received radiation treatment after a lumpectomy were 1.5 times more likely to develop contralateral cancer than women who received post-mastectomy radiation treatment.
Similarly, the risk of contralateral breast cancer among all patients under the age of 45 increased by 9 percent if they had received radiation treatment. Among women treated before the age of 35, the increase in risk associated with radiation therapy was far higher -- 78 percent...
Sleeping Air Traffic Controllers Highlight Challenges Of Odd Work Schedules Reports of sleeping air traffic controllers highlight a long-known and often ignored hazard: Workers on night shifts can have trouble concentrating and even staying awake.
"Government officials haven't recognized that people routinely fall asleep at night when they're doing shift work," said Dr. Charles Czeisler, chief of sleep medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Czeisler said studies show that 30 percent to 50 percent of night-shift workers report falling asleep at least once a week while on the job.
So the notion that this has happened only a few times among the thousands of controllers "is preposterous," he said in a telephone interview.
In a sign of growing awareness of the problem, the Federal Aviation Administration said Saturday it was changing air traffic controllers' work schedules most likely to cause fatigue. The announcement comes after the agency disclosed another incident in which a controller fell asleep while on duty early Saturday morning at a busy Miami regional facility. According to a preliminary review, there was no impact to flight operations, the FAA said...

Wiley Protocol Testosterone™ for Women – Biomimetic Testosterone Restoration.
As a women ages her libido and desire for sex often diminishes. Testosterone can plays a key role in libido, energy, and immune function in women. Produced by the ovaries, testosterone, over the course of the menstrual cycle, has a rhythm in women. Testosterone levels are highest for a woman in the early twenties, but by the time she approaches and enters menopause there may be a testosterone deficiency. The replacement of estrogen alone may not correct loss of muscle tone, absent sex drive, or general lack of mental function. Wiley Protocol For Your Face - Lipogenerative Creme can turn back the clock…
Remember the full face of youth? That plump fullness meant smooth, glowing skin, that reflected the light and was velvety to the touch. What if you could rebuild beauty from your hormones up and recover that? The Wiley Protocol for Your Face is a crème that can provide this option by replenishing the fat base just below the skin which plumps up and smooth's the crepe-y fine lines that make us look old. As you age, you lose collagen in lock-step with diminishing levels of estrogen. Since there are estrogen receptors everywhere in your body, especially in the skin. Dermatologists have long noted that systemic hormone therapy seems to improve the appearance of aging skin all by itself. Studies have shown that estrogen, when applied in a cream can penetrate the skin because of its small molecular size. Estrogen is documented to increase the production of collagen, giving skin thickness and resiliency . This crème is non-greasy and absorbs quickly.

A.R. Age 55
|
I've been a protocol user for over three years this month. I have no menopause effects, I feel no different than I did over two decades ago, and at age 51 everyone thinks I look maybe 33. I still get carded for alcohol, and I credit keeping good hormone levels as one of the main things I do for good health. I can do gym workouts that are more intense than what I was doing in the 1980's, and my libido just rocks. I started my hormones at age 38 with progesterone only with internet information along with DHEA & melatonin, and I am so glad I did. Sure, I could not find an MD to assist me for many years, and I believe it's really wrong we end up on our own like this, and somehow paying attention to my symptoms I got it right just the same... Neva W. Age 57

When I began having menopausal symptoms all my menopausal girlfriends could tell me was "wait until it gets really bad and then hope your husband can live with you"! I couldn't bear the thought of that. I began my research into BHRT. My relief was not instantaneous because I did not start with Wiley Protocol, however, once WP was recommended to me AND I found the right Doctor, Dr. Dominique Fradin-Read in Santa Monica CA, I found balance and feel amazing. I have energy, no hot flashes, sleep soundly through the night and maintain my weight, all things friends my age can not seem to accomplish. I run my own company so life is hectic and stressful but the Wiley Protocol keeps me centered and balanced. I especially like the rhythmic dosing because it keeps me aware and helps me track just how I feel on each day of the month. This then helps me communicate better with Dr. Read who can fine tune and make changes to my prescription when necessary as I have found that over time I change as changes occur in my life. I have been on WP for four years now and wouldn't be without it... Read More...

Wiley Protocol Experts Answer Your Question :
|
|
|
Q: Why isn't napping a good idea?
|
A: Babies and children nap until their sleep cycles are regulated. If you are an adult and you are finding you are tired, you either aren't getting enough sleep during the night and or you aren't going to bed and getting up with the sun. When one naps it forces melatonin production in the daytime which will create adrenal dysfunction over time.

Lights Out
This fascinating, thought-provoking study discusses the central role of sleep in our lives. After probing the scientific literature, T.S. Wiley and Formby, researchers at the Sansum Medical Research Institute, conclude that, "the disastrous slide in the health of the American people corresponds to the increase in light-generating night activities and the carbohydrate consumption that follows.

F.Y.I... We have been told that there are many pharmacies around the country claiming to make the Wiley Protocol. Unless your hormones come in our color coded packaging (green and purple for women, blue and burgundy for men), it says Wiley all over and the pharmacy has our sign in their window, they have not registered with us to make the authentic Wiley Protocol. You would be getting a generic product that will not stand up to federal scrutiny for scientific study. Please make sure your provider abides by our trademarks and sends your prescription to a Wiley Registered Pharmacy.
